Zemun is situated at the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers in the southeastern part of Srem, below the Sremska plateau on the right bank of the Danube, near the confluence of the Sava. Territorial, historical, political, cultural, economic and traffic is bound for Belgrade, which is part from 1934th year. Zemun, as part of Belgrade, a Cultural and Educational Center. The first name was Taurunum. The oldest written record of the name of today’s date from the XII century. It originates from the Slavic word “zemlin” and it is assumed that the name of the dugout, which binds to the mass present in the vertical edge of loessial terraces.
